She did that, Tamika Jamison!

Film chronicles Tamika Jamison’s journey building Black Writers Weekend and AAMBC into a national literary and creative platform; screening set for Sunday, August 23 at 6:15 PM

The documentary Dear Black Writers, which follows entrepreneur, publisher, and cultural architect Tamika Jamison (fomerly Newhouse), founder of AAMBC Inc. and Black Writers Weekend, has been officially selected for the 2026 BronzeLens Film Festival. The film will screen on Sunday, August 23 at 6:15 PM, with the AAMBC team inviting media outlets to explore interview opportunities, feature stories, and coverage surrounding the film’s upcoming release.

Dear Black Writers traces how Jamison transformed a grassroots literary event into a nationally recognized platform connecting authors, filmmakers, publishers, and creative entrepreneurs. Through original behind-the-scenes access, the film explores what it means to build an ecosystem where Black stories are celebrated, careers are launched, and communities are transformed — capturing the pressure, passion, and perseverance required to produce the annual Black Writers Weekend and AAMBC Literary Awards while mentoring the next generation of creators.

The documentary also captures:

●       The evolution of Black Writers Weekend from a local gathering into a multidisciplinary creative experience.

●       Tamika’s philosophy of creating opportunities where none previously existed.

●       Exclusive backstage moments from the AAMBC Literary Awards.

●       Personal reflections from family, collaborators, and literary leaders about her lasting impact.

●       Her receipt of both a city proclamation and the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for decades of community service.

“Dear Black Writers is about more than one festival — it’s about what happens when you decide to build the room you were never invited into,” said Tamika Jamison. “This selection at BronzeLens is confirmation that stories about Black creative infrastructure deserve a national stage.”

Founded in 2012, Black Writers Weekend has grown into a national touring literary festival, presented by AAMBC Inc. (African Americans on the Move Book Club), a Georgia-based 501(c)(3) literary nonprofit. AAMBC’s mission centers on building infrastructure, equity, and opportunity for Black authors, filmmakers, publishers, and creative entrepreneurs.
