Brandon “Griot B” Brown, BMI recording artist, educator, curator, and founder of School Yard Rap will headline a special Juneteenth celebration for Los Angeles-area youth and families on Friday, June 19, 2026, featuring his groundbreaking fusion of music, education, and cultural storytelling.

ARTIST, EDUCATOR, CURATOR
Brandon “Griot B” Brown is redefining education through culture.
As a former public school teacher in Inglewood, California, and a founding school leader in Northern California, Brandon witnessed a disconnect between traditional curriculum and student engagement in underperforming schools. Rather than accept it, he reimagined it, using hip-hop as a vehicle for truth, identity, and academic excellence.

That vision became School Yard Rap, a first-of-its-kind educational platform that merges music, curriculum, and cultural storytelling to transform how students learn. Through this work, Brown has reached more than 1 million students across 228 school districts in 24 states, delivering content that does more than inform. It connects, resonates, and stays with them.
Rooted in the West African tradition of the griot, historians and storytellers entrusted with preserving culture, Griot B carries that legacy forward for a new generation. Through music, he reclaims the histories too often overlooked and equips students to understand not only where they come from, but who they can become.
This Juneteenth Celebration with Griot B is a free, family-friendly concert and
celebration of Black excellence featuring live performances, youth-centered
programming, red carpet arrivals, celebrity family engagement opportunities, and
charitable community activations. Community partnership activation with local nonprofits, including grocery and diaper distribution benefiting LA-area families
